Traveling extensively during the year performing throughout the mid-Atlantic region, Ireland, Colorado, and Key West, Heather connects with people everywhere she goes with her soulful voice and legitimate guitar playing. Her keen sense of melody and timing allows her to share a unique interpretation of a writer's material while honoring the artist's message.
John Friday, the Tropical Balladeer, is a
singer/songwriter originally from Maryland, now living in
Asheville.

Midwinter Meltdown is the primary focus and almost annual fundraiser for the Pirates of the Potomac, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Several hundred tropical music fans travel from around the country and gather at the Pirates Tiki Bar to fend off their collective midwinter blues while enjoying great live musical entertainment Friday evening, all day Saturday and at the Sunday morning "Drunkwriter’s Brunch" as well as dinner on Friday and Saturday, appetizers and snacks throughout the weekend, and brunch on Sunday.
Each guest receives a personalized commemorative Midwinter Meltdown 2025 lanyard.
Most guest participate in the raffles and silent auctions to support our philanthropic efforts.

Midwinter Meltdown began in 2000 as tropical escape from the Mid-Atlantic midwinter blues with a tropical themed celebration of Bob Marley's birthday.
The event rapidly grew and outgrew several venues and evolved into the current 3 day, music themed event format with the Pirates Tiki Bar and the trademark Drunkwriter's Brunch on Sunday.
